I might guess it's Moroccan (which I believe would make the text Darija

hand-carved of what I think may be walnut though I'm no good at identifying woods

with some wear especially on the snake end of the slide

and everything in between

Beautiful Old Japanese Shoe Maker's Pattern/Template (Last One) stone cut print L just used this boxA year or two ago I purchased a handful of Japanese cobbler's patterns from a dealer friend in Maine and have sold them over time; this one is the last. What I know is that they were brought back from Japan years ago, retrieved from the archive of a shoemaker's workshop long since closed. I don't know enough about shoe or boot construction to read this as a pattern, but believe the quilt like collaging of silver and gold paper and blue and white
