With a cover like that it looks like either some portentous grunge mopefest or some kind of black metal album

I just don't find this quite as enjoyable

Put simply, they've established their sound and grown comfortable with it. The best moments on here would fit snugly on the albums predecessors, whilst the weaker moments would work as ample b sides.
