If you run 3 copies of a Pokmon, it is often the main hitter of a stage-deck: generally Stage-decks run 3 basic Pokmon and 3 stage1 evolutions (however, 4-3 Yanmega is very popular) or 4 basics and 3 stage2s (a good example could be Gothitelle)
