It's difficult to kill in combat with an 8/8 body, it pushes serious damage with trample, and most of all, it has hexproof to ignore removal spells and abilities of all kinds
If you cut Snow lands early on in the pack, they know they wont be getting a stellar Snow deck, which in turn makes your pack 2 much stronger if you can deter one or two players
