The biggest offender is as soon as the fourth story battle, the infamous Dorter City Slums, where the enemy quality takes a big spike and starts with significant positional advantage, while a player that didn't make a beeline to getting the JP Gain Up/JP Boost ability and a few good early-obtainable skills on everyone will be left with weak Squires/Chemists and Knights/Archers/Wizards/Priests with little usable skills if they didn't do any random battles nor intentionally stall out the prior story battles to get more EXP/JP
