It doesn't blow up all nonland permanents like Hour of Revelation, nor does it have the flexibility of selection like Austere Command, so Vanquish doesn't straight-up replace those types of wipes, but I know that when deciding what wipes I want in my White deck I'm going to start with Vanquish the Horde first then choose a flexible wipe as my second slot
Youll want to either cast this after your creatures have been deployed or have a way to put counters on them, as it doesnt continue to put counters on creatures when they enter the battlefield
Sometimes, nonrotating format cards get stupidly expensive, and when that happens Wizards has to play whack-a-mole with card prices using supplemental sets
If WotC were willing to risk permanently and dramatically changing all future games of Magic by introducing Companions, then there shouldnt be much of an argument about making single-use, bankable mana tokens a part of most every game going forward
Chief: I appreciate that the borderless version maintains the classic Phyrexian theming that made the original card so memorable
