Beautifully Aged Nearly Square Native American Woven Splint Basket red stone I was thinking this sweet

I was thinking this sweet old handmade mini ironing board (about the right size for ironing baby clothes) would make a sweet pedestal  for an arrangement of interesting little objects or weed pots

8 5/8" long x 2 3/4" wide x 2 1/4" tall

trimmed a bit unevenly on the bottom

and a perfect English-American hybrid

but haven't been able to make a definitive match

Beautifully Aged Nearly Square Native American Woven Splint Basket red stone I was thinking this sweetI walk past a lot of baskets in these parts, but the color on this one, woven of ash splint I believe, struck me as especially beautiful, with the pattern of the way the splint has weathered amplifying the woven construction of the basket in just the right way. It has definitely lived a life there is a bit of loss visible on one side particularly, and it slants a bit when viewed from that direction but it's the age and wear that really makes it.
