I believe it dates to 1940s and is still quite shiny and super smart looking
I've tried doing some translation of the ink-written names to understand exactly what species are being represented
offered to guests in a gesture of hospitality for them to select their preferred ingredients
and which makes me think of bentwood boxes

Hand marbled paper covers are one thing, but this is like an early wallpaper box except in book form. Gorgeous, and a great thing to collect, I'd say. And here, remnants of a pink paper, letterpress printed book seller's label on the inside of the cover. The book itself is Der Kleine Catechismus. (The Small Catechism) of Martin Luther
