The stain is definitely original to the piece and has aged to yield a really wonderful surface with mustard yellow undertones

Object less now, I love the ambiguity of his pose, as if he might be holding up anything with a combination of pride and awe and reverence. It appears that his feet were re glued to the base at some point, but
