Radiant, Feathery, Layers Upon Layers Antique Pieced "Pinecone" Mat textile samples a little paint loss hereI've finally figured out that "pinecone" is the term used to describe this sort of textile construction, with overlapping rings of inwardly pointing triangles. I keep wanting to describe it as toothy, and also feathery and I keep thinking "Venus dentata" too, especially with that bright red center!) I've come across just a couple of other mats of this sort over a number of years, and scooped them both up immediately, this one found in Maine. Glorious,
