but I have just learned it is a mid- to late-19th century water jug from San Luis Potosi
excepting one fine split in the wood near the top that was at one point (I am guessing long ago) glued tightly back together and is barely noticeable
but it definitely has a mid-century brutalist feel
constructed of clay slabs cut into the shape of roosters
