To the rear of the clock is a plaque which reads 'THE SULTANATE OF OMAN, U. S.$400,000,000, JANUARY 1985'. The military cooperation 'Access Agreement' between the United Kingdom, the United States and Oman was renewed in 1985. It is believed that this clock was commemorative of the event and presented to a figure or body involved.
