Description

when commercial knitting--made by knitting machines--would have primarily been used for knitting underwear

which I've arranged as such and I think in the correct order more or less

Colorado---with one of the area's rich gold veins  apparently discovered by none other than David Lamon in 1895

feeling very much like an old friend

It's an antique handmade needle book

French Tailor's Receipt, 1900, With Scattered Portrait Doodles carved ball and chain when commercial knitting--made by knittingI love old pages of scattered doodles like this and can't resist them. And to my eye quite a satisfying overall composition formed here. Done on the back of a French tailor's receipt, dated 1900. Scattered toning and stains, and found folded in quarters, probably tucked inside of a book and forgotten for 100 years or so. 10 5 8" x 8". Fold lines and stains as evident which feel very much all of a piece with it.
