I am pretty certain these wonderful hand-painted turned wooden pins or skittles are French and that they date to the 1920s or so

it's a nice size for serving small bites

and while not all are great

closes and locks tight

Lovely Old Hand-carved Folk Art Blue Bird wooden block or whether this particular setI found this one in Massachusetts yesterday and would imagine it originated in these parts, or perhaps Pennsylvania. Very sweetly done, with nice age to it, it looks to have stood on a small wooden post, the tip of which is still stuck in it. Somewhere along the way it lost the tip of its beak, which as I'm sure you know just makes it more endearing to me. 4 3 8" beak to tail x 1 1 4" w x 1 1 2" t and perches perfectly as it is.
