the detail on the chair and of the caning pattern especially brings a lot of extra life and specificity to the portrait

Such a delight to find this one in New Hampshire the other day

is known for its slate quarries--making a little fourth of July slate the perfect--and punning

It is early early 1900s, printed on very thin paper in silvery tones, with a real clarity and delicacy to the image (and to the paper too, which shows an old hard crease with some clean tearing along it, with mending tape on reverse.) Ghosts in white sheets with skeleton faces, with what looks maybe like dried corn stalks rear right and a picture (maybe of dried gourds?)
