This painting was inspired by Ben's travels in Venice and a house which could have been one of the places Italian Renaissance painter Paolo Uccello stayed whilst working in Venice. Uccello was in the area between 1425 and 1430 designing mosaics for the facade of Saint Mark's Basilica.
