I love these tiny old celluloid boxes

with it's handle made from the casing of a 50 caliber FA 1932 bullet

seeming to make the argument for ale as the essential stuff of life

and it appears there are old staples along the top edges of the shorter sides which perhaps held some covering in place

Jope brutalist chair as looking under the jacketI love a Merganser, with its long bill and dark green crest, and really love this painting, folky but proud, and with the terrific flat teal blue ground making this drake feel pretty iconic. A quick search found the Hugh F. Jobe who painted it, a WWII veteran of Haverhill, MA, 1923 2002. Though I have found no other examples of the work, the fact that he painted the back of this one to say "oil paint no frame" makes me think he surely made and sold
